Clay is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has earned advanced degrees from both Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, including a doctorate from the latter. He is on the executive board and teaches at Southwake Bible Institute.
